RECALL
RECALL: Case 44-C is a forensic detective game where you play as an analyst trying to poke holes in a witness's testimony. A guy was murdered, his brother claims to know exactly what happened, and you have to prove he's lying.
You're using this piece of court software called MNEMOSYNE to replay the night of the murder. The problem is the data is degraded and you can only render one room at a time. If you aren't focused on a room, it stays completely dark. You can still hear what's going on through the walls (arguments, footsteps, broken glass), but to actually get hard evidence to use in court, you have to aim your focus at the right room at the exact right moment.
I tried to hit the "Countdown" theme from two different angles:
- The Phone: The victim's phone has a timer on it that hits zero at exactly 11:47... the literal second he died. You spend the game trying to figure out what it was counting down to.
- The Data Decay: The forensic data is literally falling apart while you use it. Every time you replay the night, the earliest minutes get permanently corrupted. Your working window is constantly shrinking toward the time of death, and you only get 6 passes before the file is completely useless.
All the audio in the game is procedurally generated using the Web Audio API, and the graphics are pure CSS/SVG. Zero external assets were used!
Hope you enjoy it, let me know if you manage to break all three of the witness's claims!
